A Story Into Time Chapter 4: Stories, Glory and Cheer

A small boy awakens on straw staring up at the sky. Grinning at the blue sky; he mocks the clouds above. The condition of the boy wearing nothing but a pair of tattered shorts becomes clear. His skin only shows a color do to the suit that has settled on him from head to toe. His ribs, and back bones stick out of his skin like ripples in sheets. Though his smile doesn’t fade as he knows how lucky they are to see the day. His spirit surpasses his physical appearance. As he walks without shoes through a shortened torn patch he remains joyous. His feet pass through unable to penetrate scar tissue from previous travels through harsher environments.

In the distance a woman’s voice rings out, calling a name repetitively in a slightly annoyed tone. The child no older than seven sits up and looks off towards a small hut made out of branches. A women with long flowing brunette hair wearing a dirty faded blue dress stands waving at him to come towards her. Her age is clearly in her thirties and the years were hard. Her face is has the markings of a thief and whore indicated by letters branded into her cheeks. A P for prostitute and a T for thief. Her wrists shine with scars from former shackles. Letting out a sigh he stands and begins to meander his way over to her. Boy,” yes mother? ”

Mother with a withered smile and majestic voice gives the boy some instructions,” Glenn I need to run to the river to gather up some water so we can wash up before your brother arrives and I need you to wait here him.”

Glenn reluctantly responds,” Alright…I guess..do I really need to wash up though its a waste of water.”

Mother with a bit of truth continues,” Yes, you do you haven’t washed in a while…and it will be dark here soon.”

Glenn with sigh says,” I know but…”

Mother ends his rebuttal,” No but…just get your brother a bed made up so he can rest, a trip to town takes a lot out of him.”

His mother gathers up a two buckets which may be the only thing they own that is not in rough shape. With a sigh she uses some vines to tie the buckets to each end of a long pole like stick. She lefts up the stick and places on her shoulders wrapping her arms around each end to hold it firmly in place. She begins to walk off down a faded trail towards a small river that ran about two miles away on the edge of a dead forest.

Glenn sighs watching his mother fade off into the distance, picking up a stick he begins to practice his letters in a small patch of dirt. A few hours pass and darkness begins to fall. Slightly worried, for his mother should have returned before dusk. He works on attempting to start a fire. Heading inside he sits down next to a small pile of sticks and straw. Placing the straw in the center of a small fire pit inside the home of sticks and vines. He begins to hum a tune his mother hummed to him to calm him when he was little to numb the worried feeling that was slowly growing. Picking up a stone of flint and a small dulled knife which he slides harshly against to stone to create a spark. After several minutes he manages to catch the straw on fire with a small ember. Blowing on the spark it begins to glow. Smiling having started his first fire on his own he wondered what his mother will say when she gets back.

The glow of the fire shines out of the cracks of the hut. With the light he sets up his brother a place to sleep next to his and his mothers. His brother had been gone for a few days. the small village was about a days trek away, though he often wondered why they lived so far away from town he never did ask assuming that his mother knew best. The brother was only 13 and his mom promised once Glenn turned ten he could go with him to town. He looked forward to the experience of seeing other children and hoping maybe he could play with them as his brother took care of business. His thoughts were interrupted by a smell that he had never smelled before.

It was foul and alarming, turning he looked out the entrance of the hut to see a stocky thing with green skin and pointy ears looking in on him. Its mouth had rows of semi sharp teeth as its lips had red blood dripping down from it. Though it very large by any means but was bigger than the boy. It stood on two legs and was in rotting leather armor which covered its chest and legs. In its hand was a long jagged dagger which had a rough and long life as well. Took him but a second to realize that he was staring at a goblin. Sliding back his hand; landing on the dull knife he used to start the fire he grasped it.

Goblin snarls, “whats…this…?” the goblin’s skills at the common language was limited at best. Grinning it entered the hut. The boy held up the knife and the goblin let out a cackling laugh. ” cute….soft…bony….not much meat….” The goblin look at the boy closely slightly disappointed upon his find.” Not hungry now….eat tomorrow…”

The goblin put away his dagger without taking his eyes off the boy. Taking a step towards Glenn who let out a scream. It was at the moment the Goblin felt something alarming in his back and chest. He looked down at a small piece of metal sticking out of his leather armor about an inch covered in black blood. Confused, by it he reached to touch its sharpened tip cutting his finger on it. The metal returns to the inside of its body and out the back. At this point he realized the pain he was in and it he could no longer breathe. Turning as he fell he Saw a larger boy holding a short sword which the the top half of the blade had black blood dripping off of it. Gagging the goblin rolled over onto its side and life faded from its eyes.

The boy in a panic looks to Glenn,”Glenn are you okay? Wheres mom?”

Glenn remained still, his grip on the knife was strong as it remained pointed outward toward the goblin’s mortal coil. Unable to speak nor blink: his brother clapped his hands to get Glenn’s attention. Glenn turned and looked at his brother a moment before tears came across his face. He stood while rushing over to his brother dropping the knife as his arms raised to wrap around of his brother who welcomed him with open arms. Scared Glenn dug his face into his kin’s chest. It was at this point he began to blurt out. ” Kross.” sobbing “Kross..mom went to the river and hasn’t come back…”

Kross,” shhh…its alright now but we need to go…” Kross knew that if one goblin was around more were sure to be in the area pushing Glenn aside he quickly put out the fire as the sounds of a horn blew off in the distance, searching the goblin he removing the sword from the back of the goblin with a steady jerk, he began to remove the armor and collected the goblin’s weapon. Placing the leather armor covered in black blood around Glenn and suiting him up it was a little big for Glenn, but now was not the time to be concerned with such things. Kross wrapped the belt for the sheath of the dagger around his younger brothers waist placing the dagger in it’s home. Taking his brothers hand he pulled him out of the hut.

Kross himself was about a foot taller than his brother and a bit more stocky having been keeping himself composed he wore a slightly worn shirt and pants as well as shoes that shown some wear and tear but still had some life to them. Dragging his brother out into the night, they heard an approaching group coming up the trail leading to the river. Kross shook his head knowing they could not make it town without being spotted. Kross ordered Glenn to dive into the small hay pile that he had been resting on earlier that day.

Glenn took a moment to follow his brothers orders as the fear of being killed grew greater as the sound of the small hoard grew louder. He wondered why his brother wasn’t coming too the pile of hay was big enough to cover them both.

Kross ran back behind the house where he had dropped his spoils from the village earlier having seen the goblin enter the hut. The bag was rather large considering the size of the young man who had carried it all this way. In a rush of fast feet he joined his brother in the hay, covering the bag as best he could without leaving his brother exposed. Kross then took some of the straw in a waded mass and uses it to cover their tracks before diving in as well covering himself fully. The goblin mass passed by the straw as a few broke off to investigate the hut. Finding their dead ally they let out a horrid scream causing the night to fill with the sound of horror. The goblins tore down the hut letting out a war cry they stormed off towards the town assuming someone was already heading their to warn them.

Glenn and Kross remained hidden till dawn. Once the sun rose Kross poked his head out telling his brother to remain hidden. Kross headed off towards the river at a running pace. Upon arriving he began to look around for signs of his mother carefully searching the sides of the rivers and the tracks that lay in the wet earth. Seeing signs of his mother tracks among the claw marks of the goblins; he began to realize the truth of what had happened. Searching for a while he saw some drag marks in the softened soil. Tears began to form around his eyes as he followed it seeing bits of a faded blue dress stained with blood along its grooves. He found his mothers remains tied to a tree. The goblins had cut the flesh from her bones till there was barely anything left. Falling to his knees he began to weep.

After a few moments of morning he stood knowing his brother was alone and scared. He untied his mother from the tree and placed her body in the river watching the water carry it away. He again begun to cry knowing he could never tell his brother what he had found. That there would be no grave to come back to, that she was gone forever. After he regained his composure he began to head back to his brother at a quickened pace.

Upon returning he sees his brother sitting on top of the hay stack with a smile on his face. This confused Kross as he approached Glenn.

Kross with a brief smile which turns quickly to concern,” Glad to see you smiling again Glenn, but why are you not hiding? ”

Glenn very excited responded, ” Kross, Kross, you wont believe it but I saw a wizard.”

” Glenn what are you talking about no one is here. ” Kross demanded while looking around he saw no signs or marks of a traveler nor wizard that his brother was claiming. ” Where did he go? What did he look like?”

Glenn who can barely contain himself was very happy to share,” Kross when you left he appeared next to our hut.” Glenn pointed to the hut that had been repaired with a smile on his face.” You see the wizard waved his hand and the hut was back again. The wizard was dressed in all grey and he had creepy black eyes, but he was really nice. Told me a secret he did and gave me this.” Glenn holds up a black coin with a raven on it.” He said if I ever have a wish all I need to do is flip this coin and he will come back to grant it.”

” Give me that.” Kross demanded as his skepticism grew and Glenn closed it up in his hand and pulled away from Kross all together.

Glenn shouts at Kross,” NO, I CAN’T, he said if anyone ever touched it other than me it wouldn’t work. ”

Kross in disbelieve,” now your just making stuff up let me see it. ”

Glenn sticking to his story,” NO, I wont. IF I do it wont work don’t you get it? The wizard was very stern about that.”

Kross fed up just shakes his head and gives in,” fine then be that way, I don’t want to look at the stupid coin anyway. I brought back better stuff than that from town anyway.” Kross digs out the bag from the hay and pulls out some apples tossing his brother one who fails to catch it as he holds onto the coin tightly. Kross sighs and picks up the apple, dusting it off hands it to Glenn who takes it with his empty hand and ravenously eats it. Kross also pulls out some salted pork and some shoes for his brother as well as a brand new shirt. In the bottom of the bag he sees the coffee he secretly stole for his mother, with a sigh a tear runs down his face as he lifts it out of the bag. He uses his elbow to absorb the tear before its noticed. Placing it to the side, he shows Glenn the various snares and traps he had gotten.

“Thank you for the cloths and shoes Kross. You’re the best brother a boy could have you know that. Whats that stuff?” Glenn says pointing at the coffee as Kross helps Glenn put on the shoes.

” Its a very rare bean that people roast to and run hot water over, to make a bitter drink, or so the guy who sold it to me said. I remember Mom saying it was one of the finest drinks one could have the luxury of enjoying. ” Kross’s tone goes from anger to a bitter sweet sound.

” for who?” Glenn says in disarray

” Mother you dolt” Agitated by this sudden game Kross glares at Glenn

” who? ”Seeing his brothers look he shyly asks again/

Kross voice turns to rage” stop it that is not funny”

Confused Glenn looks down” I am not being funny Kross, who are you talking about?”

Kross beyond furious yells,” What are YOU talking about? Mom our mother, the lady that takes care of us. ”

Glenn begins putting on his shirt while never letting go of the coin. The shirt is a bit large on him but he will grow into it so he didnt mind it. He can not even look at Kross whom’s rage makes him quiver as he dares to ask another question,” what lady its always been just you and me.”

” NO it hasn’t you jerk. Mom….Mother… you know what I am not going to play this game with you.” Kross looks over at Glenn who looks up and forces a weak confused smile. Kross notices that Glenn seems to have honestly no clue what Kross is talking about. “Eat up, we are going to move somewhere nicer.” Kross says with a forced smile fighting back the tears, not sure whats going on with his brother but he decides it might be for the best. Means Glenn wouldn’t be burden by the loss of their mom as he is nor force Kross to relive the memory.

Years pass as they travel from town to town stealing and conning what they needed to survive, as Glenn held onto the coin. Once Glenn reached 16 he fell in love with a women and soon they had a family. Glenn got a job as a farm hand and stopped his life of crime. Kross decided it was time for him to move on that Glenn had a real future before him and it wouldn’t be fair for him to continue to hold him back. As Kross’ crime kept him on the move, to avoid being captured. One day Kross left his brother a note leaving in the dead of night wishing Glenn the best of luck; telling him he would be back from time to time with gifts for him and his family. It was at this time Kross took up drinking coffee and began to explore the world on his own.

It wasn’t long after that he found himself in a moral conundrum as he saw some smoke rising up in the horizon. Normally he would simply turn directions when seeing something like this, for fire rarely means anything good. Though for whatever reason he for the first time in his life felt as if he needed to press forward against his better judgement and check it out. Upon arriving at a rather gruesome scene where a small hut had burned down with people inside. He could hear the faint cries of a child, and thus he began to search the rubble. Among the Ash and smoldering wood he found a baby with blond hair and red eyes when it saw him it stopped crying. Kross wondered how a water elf managed to find itself in this situation. Kross approached the child and it stopped crying and gave out a giggle and smile holding its arms up to him. He leaned down and picked her up, then left without searching for anything of use. Kross remembers this day very clearly as he has never acted that way sense, and the one time it did he became a more or less a foster parent for better or worse.

Present Day.

Kross awoke up from a memory filled dream to a sharp kick in the ribs by a tearful Snowy who was had her right hand over the rather large lump on the back of her head. Kross rubbed his side a moment before sitting up and yawning. Dawn was barely rising outside and lightly rattled from the beating of drums. Noticing this Kross stood up and looked out the window hushing Snowy before she could yell at him. Once he reached the window he saw a hoard of easily 200 Orcs charging across the fields leading into the town. He also saw what he presumed to be Cecil standing alone only a few hundred feet from the Darklings.  Kross shaking his head at the stupidity of the blind man cant help but watch the out come of this. As the Hoard closes in Kross also sees Argos and Ash running to grab/defend Cecil.

The hoard engulfs Cecil’s position before Argos and Ash can lend their support. Argos gives out a loud battle cry raising up a large double sided battle ax. Cecil is surrounded lifting up his staff he slams it down into the ground and it gives off a bright flash temporarily blinding everyone in the area plus those watching including Kross. Once the flash clears Cecil remains surrounded by figures but they do not seem to be moving. Argos swings his ax at one of the Orcs, but it passes through unhindered causing the Orc to burst into a cloud of dust. Cecil begins walking back towards the village as the wind picks up carrying the powdered  remains of the former threat up into the air behind him and proceeds to spread their ashes.

Argos drops his ax and jaw falling to one knee as Cecil passed by. Ash moved out of his way and hid behind Argos having never seen a display of power that profound she couldn’t help but be afraid for a moment. The 25  warriors defending the towns boarder part and also kneel as Cecil passes. Kross rushes past Snowy knocking her down with his movements, his eyes wide and his silence begins to freak her out. Grabbing his jacket off the door handle. She begins to inquire as to whats got him so rattled but he only says “I swear, you best stay put and out of sight.” Kross ignores her inquiry. He makes way down stairs and out of the door looking across the main road of the city. He stairs at Cecil who calmly approaches.

Kross full of shock and disbelief,”What the fuck are you? Don’t give me no healing mage bull shit. Not even the Gods can do that, well that quickly. You ended 200 lives in an instant. You haven’t broken a sweat, you don’t even appear tired. Explain!!!”

Cecil turns his head towards Kross,”You’re lively in the morning aren’t you. Figured you would sleep in like you always do. Perhaps some Coffee will make this morning even brighter.” Cecil reaches into his robe and pulls out already grounded up coffee in a decent sized pouch. He tosses it at Kross who is dumb founded by Cecil’s response and the lack of answering his questions also that Cecil even had coffee. Kross catches the coffee and Cecil walks past him and says,” Be a dear and get that working I could use something warm. ” Cecil pats Kross on the shoulder and walks into the tavern Argos and the Warriors come into the town and head into the tavern as Kross stands in the road utterly confused holding a bag of coffee.

Kross stayed outside for a few moments trying to collect his thoughts at what had just transpired. Cheers erupt from inside the tavern causing Kross to return from the world of thought. He shakes his head and returns inside to find Cecil sitting on a chair that had been placed on a table. He looked very out of place and slightly overwhelmed by the reactions of the common folk. Argos on the other hand had his back to the “hero” and was drinking mead. Ash Sat next to him watching the crowd cheer on Cecil, the way they normally cheered on Argos. Argos though grateful couldn’t help the feeling of envy being overcast for the first time in battle. Argos finishes the mead and the Wench quickly refills it as instructed.

Ash notices the speed in which her large comrade was downing the mead, but knew it would take a lot more to be any sort of ill effect. Kross slides up next to Argos handing the bag of coffee to the wench asking for a large pot and five cups. He asks Ash to fetch Snowy. Kross also orders some food for himself and his ward. Ash slides off the bar stool and heading up stairs to fetch Snowy.

Argos turns to Kross surprised by his presence,” Ah thank you for the room last night. I went to pay for it this morning and said the charges had already been covered. Truly an amazing sight on the battle field this morning. ”

“I know I saw the show. The White Raven, living myth, truly something…..” Kross pauses trying to use the right word.”unique.”

“White Raven? Not familiar with that myth, and I have lived in these parts for decades. ” Argos says with a burp as the mead is not settling well on an empty stomach, it was at this point Snowy and Ash show up. Snowy is wearing a faded red cloak and a basic dust stained grey robe. Her facial expressions show her dislike of her clothing. Ash had filled her in on the special that had been preformed by Cecil earlier.

“I ran into a women a few weeks ago that has told me a tale. The women had dark blue hair another oddity if you ask me, she had with her a large scythe but she gave story of the White Raven. The story goes that once in the beginning days of mortals the White Raven first appeared, he was able to set people on a path to change their fates in. Because of this the mortals were able to increase their power and grow fending off the Darklings. One of the mortals that he help was either naive or vindictive either way they told first Gods all that the Raven had taught them and how the raven had helped them. That the man had helped so many that they even formed a temple in his honor. The gods angry for the White Raven’s interference and influence turned him into a Raven making it impossible to change the world again. Thou The secrets he gave helped the first civilized races defend themselves from the darklings. They say though if you go to his small woods you can sometimes see the White Raven, or find a Feather. ” Kross finishes the story right as his food arrives and Snowy stomach growls she begins eating and talking at the same time

“Its why we- “takes a bite of bread and continues a bit muffled,” came here. Wanted to find see a White Raven.”

“And your telling me that that man over there is the Raven.” Argos points over to Cecil who is currently having mead poured down his throat by the warriors who are thankful to be alive. Cecil having finished the mead. Smiles a moment before they bring another to his lips forcing him to drink another. Cecil makes it halfway down that one before pushing the cup, he stands at the smell off Coffee. A wench brings out the glasses and cups asked for by Kross. Who was so delighted by the aroma that he forgot what everyone was talking about.

“YOU BET HE IS” Snowy says almost choking on her food. Though she leaves half of everything and slides her plate over to Ash who looks shocked at the free offering of food. Ash takes a bite not wanting to be rude but as she hasn’t eaten yet she cant help but follow that bite with the rest.

“Whats your story then sir?” Argos asks Kross a man he barely knows. Kross pours the coffee for each of them. Snowy and Ash don’t take to the taste too well but Snowy continues to sip on it to appease Kross knowing this was a rare treat for him. Ash on the other hand carefully waits till Kross is not looking and pours it out onto the tavern floor. Argos cheers Kross then takes a burning gulp of the heated hot black drink. He waits a moment before coughing loudly.

“Easy there big fella its hot. Its a drink meant to be savored and enjoyed not shoveled down your throat. The short version is, I like the finer things in life, I am just your average wanderer who has picked up a skill or two here or there. Not much of a story. ” Kross nonchalantly explains. Argos knows there is much more to this man next to him then he is letting on but lets it slide for now.

“Well As I said my father is Ares, yet I haven’t had the chance to speak to him since I was very little when my mother passed. Being a half breed my mortality shall keep me locked to this world. If I earn enough glory perhaps my father well welcome me to the great Hall of the Gods when I parish here on this plane. ” Argos gives up his story without being asked. Kross just nods not trying to be rude but he couldn’t think of a worse hell than being stuck surrounded by self absorbed Gods for the rest of eternity. Listening to them bickering and causing destruction where ever they desire.

Cecil makes his way through the crowd cheering, it was hard at first to separate himself from the warriors, but with many thank yous and nods he was able to slip away and join Kross and the others. Plopping down at the counter Kross pours Cecil a cup. Cecil sips it and makes a funny face as coffee and mead didn’t complement each other too well. Cecil is clearly a bit intoxicated which is indicated by posture as well as his slurring words on the occasion.

“Whoooo…..those guu-ys are gr-ea-t…” Cecil says with a bit of a stumble before sipping the coffee.

Snowy giggles at the state of Cecil forcing Ash to crack a smile. Ash couldn’t keep her cold demeanor around Snowy’s cheer, it was infectious. Ash began to wonder how someone who faces the same scrutiny could have remained so carefree and willful. As Snowy wondered why Ash continued to hide her face behind her hair, there was no point in her mind to hide anything about yourself. In the past she had been hurt by others but Kross always even the score either with pointing out their flaws, or conning others to do the dirty work. Ash wondered if it was because Argos was so honor bound or tried to follow a code, people left her alone for the most part as long as he was around. His size would deter most that would cause an issue. Ash looked over at Kross trying to fully understand this man, he wasn’t carefree nor was he careful. He was a full human and clearly had some rough edges yet you could feel a kindness to him he also wasn’t hard on the eyes. A mystery why a human would even be bothered looking after such an energetic elf breed.

Snowy’s mind continued to wonder as she really just took a moment to take in the size of Argos. Easily the size of a half giant she compared her arm to his and then made a face reading “Good God” to Ash. Snowy then realized she was lucky to have Kross cause if Argos ever had to put her in line it would have been the end of her for sure. Ash smiles lightly at Snowy’s comparison and reaction.

“Cecil was it? ” Argos asks narrowing his gaze on the man trying to sober up at the bar. “now that you have saved the town, would you like to explain why those Seraphs were looking for you?”

“First off,” Cecil says straightening up,” your correct that is my name. Secondly don’t know might have something to do with….you know the end of the world…” he says without a compassion and in a semi serious tone before sipping his coffee.

“Excuse me?!!” both Argos and Kross respond in shock.

Chapter 12: Death is only the Beginning

The sounds of metal clanging ring out as the Mother of Death faces off against her son Hades. Their battle field is a barren field of warm sand cooling across the sand of the Valley of Seven Devils. The field was named this do to the fire Devils who once would doom all travelers who cross their vacant desert searching for a promised land that was made of myths and legends. A aspect that caused many who searched for a better tomorrow to meet terrible fates. They were captured ages ago by a fierce warrior who tricked them into fighting one another till they were too tired to defend against him. Dragging them back to the Gate he locked them away for what all assumed would be until the end of time.

Mother of Death,” Hades why are you doing this….There is no balance if you continue to kill those whoms time has yet to come. ”

Hades,” The old ways mean nothing, for its time for a change its time for you to give up your power to me.”

Mother of Death,” You’re a foolish child…you are not ready to be the God of Death.”

Hades charges forth bringing his blade down to strike his mother who uses a scythe to defend herself, sliding back across the sand from the strike. Surprised and slightly fearful of her son’s new found power.  She spins her scythe to cause a large about of sand to kick up and create a wall of sand between the two of them. Hades charges forth and swings his blade knocking loose his mothers grip on her weapon.

Hades: “Its time I bring you to piece darling.”

He shoves his sword deep into her chest causing her ribs to give way and the blade to pierce her heart. Black blood slides down the blade as the mother of death only smiles back at her foe.

Mother of Death,”Its a relief to know that my son had nothing to do with this…vile creature show yourself…”

Diane returns to her normal form as her body shifts from Hades’ to her own she looks back puzzled to have been exposed. Curious of how this false old God was able to see through her masquerade. Pulling the blade out of the Mother of Death she watches the God fall backwards onto the sand.

Diane: “Well seems you have some surprises in you still.”

Mother of Death,” Its not hard, for if you were my son and truly wanted the power you would not have destroyed the source….ha ha ha….foolish shapeshifter I no idea what your plans are but its simple to see you have no idea what your doing.” She laughs a bit until her voice is interrupted by a spur of blood. The wind begins to pick up greatly as Diane watches in confusion. Sand begins to fly towards Diane with great speed, it tears into her flesh and eyes blinding her.

Diane,” FUCK whats with this wind you old hag. ”

Diane would then feel the earth underneath her begin to pull in down, Alarmed she takes the form of a phoenix and takes off into the air a chain of sand follows her her up into the air wrapping around her ankles and starts to bring her back down. The wind also makes it difficult for her to remain steady and soon she crashes down into the sand, and then is drug down under the surface of the sand.

Wind,” Madam….are you alright”

Mother of Death,” The foolish thought of killing death…..ha…ha ha….” says before coughing up more blood, weakly she stands. Its at this point that she looks down at her chest, around the wound has begun to turn white to her dismay she falls to one knee as the wind rushes to her side, using its power to steady her.

Wind,” The book keeper said that something was coming to unleash war on the Gods. I guess that was one of them…I suppose. I found you and the God of the Earth we are looking for Rah and the other former Gods. The kingdom of Zeus has been laid to waste and they hung his dying body on the front gate. As a warning, if I had only gotten here sooner we might have been able to escape without injury. ”

Mother of Death,” I don’t think I am going to be alright…Rah was last known to be resting where the sky meets Earth. Trust no one…..” Holding her chest the white begins to slowly spread. She forces herself to stand and take. In the distance three figures begin approaching. The ground begins to shake as a massive sand dragon bursts forth attacking the ground as the wind helps mother of death steady herself and gain balance enough to remain on her feet.

Wind,” We need to go now…”

The gods make their retreat as the Mother of Death moans in pain with every step the wind conceals her movements till they she can manage to hide her form. The God of Earth continues to form a distraction till the others are clear before he leaves and the sands become still.

Gilgamesh, Madea, and an orc chieftain arrive on the scene. Medea laughs at the sand dragon who changes form to Diane.

Diane.”ahhh go choke on it Madea.”

Medea,” I am not the one who let some Lower Gods get the better of me now am I.”

Diane.” Former Gods seem to be of higher order than their offspring. ”

Gilgamesh,” It is nothing we can not handle I am sure of it. They may be powerful and illusive but to keep our plans on our track we shall have to finish them off not let them linger with injuries. Diane, do you have any information for me?”

Diane,” yes there is a wind God and an Earth God, they seem to be trying to find one another. But most of the former gods wont work with the current ones nor work well with one another.”

Gilgamesh,” Well do you know how many former Gods we could expect to encounter? And has anyone found 400? ”

Diane,” There was one matching his description that was mentioned in a small village. They spoke of him fondly as he healed them also provided them with food and other supplies. Only thing that makes me think its not him, is the fact they said he turned an army of darklings into dust before passing out for several days. He was also listed as blind; we know 400 is as well, but not everything matches up as 400 doesn’t fight nor heal others. ”

Medea,” yeah might be him might not be”

Gilgamesh,” Strange…thanks for the report return to your duties of observing, next time do not engage without back up. Medea lead our orc friend here to find Lucy and see if he has managed to open the gate. Combine your forces and then you with the help of Lucy and the sisters continue to destroy the temples and the followers. ”

Medea nods and looks to the orc chieftain in a bit of disgust as the orc looks at her with the clear thought of sexual fantasies filling its mind. Disgusted she leads the say towards a new town. The orc follows a on the verge of being to close behind her as they head south.

Gilgamesh leans down placing his hand into the sand, his eyes flash a bit as Diane finally takes off as a sparrow into the air. He was now alone in the vastness of desert. Whispers fill his head as he shakes it off for a moment before they come back louder.

Voices, “Kill them….kill them all….rule…bend the knee to no one. ”

Gilgamesh,” Yes master…I shall…kill them all….every last one….”

Chapter 5 Kross

A small boy awakens on straw staring up at the sky. Grinning at the blue sky; he mocks the clouds above. The condition of the boy wearing nothing but a pair of tattered shorts becomes clear. His skin only shows a color do to the suit that has settled on him from head to toe. His ribs, and back stick out of his skin like ripples in sheets. Letting out a sigh he stands and begins to meander his way over to her.

Boy,” yes mother? ”

Mother,” Glenn I need to run to the river to gather up some water so we can wash up before your brother arrives and I need you to wait here him.”

Glenn,” Alright…I guess..do I really need to wash up though its a waste of water.”

Mother,” Yes, you do you haven’t washed in a while…and it will be dark here soon.”

Glenn,” I know but…”

Mother,” No but…just get your brother a bed made up so he can rest, a trip to town takes a lot out of him.”

It stood on two leather armor covered its body though the condition was very poor, in its hand was a long jagged dagger which had a rough and long life as well. Took him but a second to realize that he was staring at a goblin. Sliding back his hand landing on the dull knife he used to start the fire he grasped it.

Goblin, “whats…this…?” the goblin’s skills at the common language was limited at best. Grinning it entered the hut. The boy held up the knife and the goblin let out a cackling laugh.

Goblin, ” cute….soft…bony….not much meat….” The goblin look at the boy closely slightly disappointed upon his find.” NOt hungry now….eat tomorrow…”

The goblin put away his dagger without taking his eyes off the boy. Taking a step towards Glenn who let out a scream. It was at the moment the Goblin felt something alarming in his chest as he looked down at a small piece of metal sticking out of his leather armor. Confused, by it he reached to touch it cutting his finger on it. At this point he realized the pain he was in and it he could no longer breathe. Turning his head as best he could get Saw a larger boy holding a short sword that had been embedded into the back of the of the beast. Gagging the goblin fell to its knees and the boy let go of the sword. The goblin then fell over onto its side and life faded from its eyes.

Boy,”Glenn are you okay? Wheres mom?

Glenn remained still, his grip on the knife was strong as it remained pointed outward toward the goblin’s mortal coil. Unable to speak nor blink: his brother clapped his hands to get Glenn’s attention. Glenn turned and looked at his brother a moment before tears came across his face. He stood and rushed over to his brother dropping the knife as his arms raised to grab a hold of his brother who welcomed him with open arms.

Darth ran back behind the house where he had dropped his spoils from the village earlier having seen the goblin enter the hut. The bag was rather large considering the size of the young man who had carried it all this way. Hurry as fast as he could he joined his brother in the hay, covering the bag as best he could without leaving him or his brother exposed. The goblin mass passed by the straw as a few broke off to investigate the hut finding their dead ally they let out a horrid scream causing the night to fill with the sound of horror. The goblins tore down the hut letting out a war cry they stormed off towards the town assuming someone was already heading their to warn them.

Glenn and Darth remained hidden till dawn. Once the sun rose Darth poked his head out telling his brother to remain hidden. Darth headed off towards the river at a running pace.

Confused Kross approached him.

Kross,” Glad to see you smiling again Glenn. ”

Glenn very excited responded, ” Kross, Kross, you wont believe it but I saw a wizard.”

Kross,” Glenn what are you talking about no one is here. ” Looking around he saw no signs or marks of a traveler nor wizard that his brother was claiming. ” Where did he go? What did he look like?”

Glenn,” Kross when you left he appeared next to our hut.” Glenn pointed to the hut that had been repaired. A smile on his face.” You see the wizard waved his hand and the hut was back again. The wizard was dressed in all grey and he had creepy black eyes, but he was really nice. Told me a secret he did and gave me this.” Glenn holds up a black coin with a raven on it.” He said if I ever have a wish all I need to do is flip this coin and he will come back to grant it.”

Kross,” give me that.” Kross demanded and Glenn closed it up in his hands screaming.

Glenn,” NO, I CAN’T, he said if anyone ever touched it other than me it wouldn’t work. ”

Kross,” now your just making stuff up let me see it. ”

Glenn,” NO, I wont. IF I do it wont work don’t you get it? The wizard was very stern about that.”

Kross,” fine then be that way, I don’t want to look at the stupid coin anyway. I brought back better stuff than that from town.” Kross digs out the bag from the hay and pulls out some apples tossing his brother one who fails to catch it as he holds onto the coin tightly. Kross sighs and picks up the apple, dusting it off hands it to Glenn who takes it with his empty hand and ravenously eats it. Kross also pulls out some salted pork and some shoes for his brother as well as a brand new shirt. In the bottom of the bag he sees the coffee his mother requested, with a sigh a tear runs down his face as he lifts it out of the bag.

Glenn,” thank you for the cloths and shoesKross you are the best brother a boy could have you know that. Whats that stuff?

Kross,” Coffee for mother..” he says as sadness creeps into his tone.

Glenn,” for who?”

Kross,” Mother you dult”

Glenn,” who? ”

Kross,” stop it thats not funny”

Confused Glenn looks at Kross. Glenn,” I am not being funny Kross, who are you talking about?”

Kross now getting angry,” What are YOU talking about? Mom our mother, the lady that takes care of us. ”

Glenn,” what lady its always been just you and me,” Glenn slips on the shoes which have some room to grow as he tosses the shirt on over the leather armor. still holding onto the coin.

Kross,” NO it hasn’t you jerk. Mom….Mother…” Kross looks over at Glenn who has a confused smile on his face as he seems to have honestly no clue what Darth is talking about. “Eat up, we are going to move somewhere nicer.” Kross says with a forced smile fighting back the tears, not sure whats going on with his brother but he decides it might be for the best. Means Glenn wouldn’t be burden by the loss of their mom as he is.

Chapter Four. The Journey Begins

Cecil awakes to find himself stretched out on an alter of the villages run down temple. Agros stands next to him looking down at him with minor concern but more confusion.

Agros,”Welcome back, what a spectacle you put on sir.”

Cecil,”owe my head hurts how long have I been out?”

Agros,”3 days…or so no one was sure you would wake up or not. No one has ever seen that kind of magic, I mean the old tales of the necromancer and of the creator come close but truly what kind of mage are you.”

Cecil slowly sitting up with a slight tired hiss to his voice responds in kind,”First that wasn’t magic….it was skill I guess you would call it.” He takes a moment to rub his eyes,” it doesn’t matter now wont be able to do something like that again for a long, long time. I practice healing mostly. Few things I have come across that I can not cure.”

Agros,” Skill? That wasn’t skill you turned them all to dust, no one has that as a skill. But a healer you say? That is practically a lost art now a days, in fact your the first i have ever met, you sure your not a holy mage of some sort?

Cecil’s eyebrows narrow slightly,” yes I am sure I am not Holy or a Cleric of worship.”

Snowy and Ash come running in Ash leads the charge skidding to a stop just before Cecil looking up at him curiously and giving a nod as Snowy blirts out, ” OH YOU’RE ALIVE thank the gods, Now teach me your secrets oh master.”

Ash looks over at her sister and bonks her on the head with her left hand causing snowys eyes to tear up for a second before snowy turns and jerks down on Ashes hair then takes off running. Ash right on her heels.

Just as Ash catches snowys hood and jerks back taking snowy off her feet causing her to fall on her butt hard; Agros shouts, ” NOW KNOCK IT OFF YOU TWO or I will put you both in the corner in front of our new friend here.” In response Ash lets go of Snowy and slowly walks back over to Agros and Cecil; as snowy slowly gets to her feet rubbing her butt and sniffling her tears away.

Ash, “Agros I think you owe him an apology he was quite capable of fighting with ease.”

Agros,” Shhh…I was getting to that, Sorry Cecil it was close minded of me to think cause you were blind that you would not be able to help.

Snowy walks up with the remains of a tear still wet on her left cheek. She looks up at Cecil and Cecil’s head turns to her. She notices this but says nothing before turning to Ash and punching her arm. Ash just ignores her sisters attempts at rising a reaction out of her.

Cecil, “it’s alright I appreciate your concern…*Cecil hops down off of the table feeling around for his cane which ash grabs and hands him. Patting himself he searches for his cloak, Agros picks up the cloak off a small hook hanging from a torn up rafter.

Agros, ” you sure your ready to be moving around? ”

Cecil,” Oh yes, time waits for no one…” Cecil stretches and his joints pop sending small echos throughout the empty temple. “Just a little hungry is all going to head back to town and find some grub, if you would be as so kind to join me I would be more than happy to purchase you all something as well.”

Snowy,” YAY food….” she yells as her stomach growls in anticipation.”

Agros,”well ah Cecil, you don’t have to do that you have done enough already and I fear we must be heading out, Got to track down the one who keeps making these hoards and stop them.”

Ash,” but but but….”

Agros,” Shhh….”

Cecil,” you three have looked after me for the last few days let me say thank you, and besides its bad to start a long journey on no rations.”

Snowy and ash turn to Agros whom’s stomach also begins to growl, he sighs and the girls smile brightly and begin to lead Cecil to the local tavern as snowy hums a short happy tune on repeat, ash holds Cecils hand and guides him. Cecil holds his cane to his side with his other hand as Agros follows up behind. The town villagers they pass by thank them for saving them but are slightly scared of Cecil. They enter the tavern. Ash leads Cecil to a chair and table, as snowy begins to push chairs over for them all to sit at it. It isn’t long after till another man walks in through the main door of the tavern. He wears a dark grey cloak covering what seems to be a jagged sword, that chimes against his belt as he makes his way to the bar top. The stranger lowers his hood to reveal a handsome man in his twenties who orders a cup of black coffee, placing some bronze coins on the counter, the coins have bits of blood on them. Once the bar tender returns, with his drink. the man speaks.

“Bar tender, I heard a great wizard had performed a miracle out here defeating a large hoard single handedly.”

Bar tender,” yes it was truly something, turned the enemy to dust he did, then almost died himself from exhaustion. Never seen you in these parts you got a name wanderer.”

Stranger, ” Names Darth, could you tell me a bit more about him?”

Bar tender,” Not much to tell really, simple blind man been traveling around these parts since I was little. Helpful chap, he is he is, even helped me turn this tavern around once my parents past. He would come and hang for a few months healing folks then he would leave for a few months and return with small gifts for people around here. Never imagined he was capable of such destructive magic. Strange thing is, I have grown older, and he remains the same, benefits of healing magic I suppose.”

Agros over hears the bartender speaking about Cecil to this Darth fellow. As the bar wench comes over to take their Order. Cecil only orders some fresh fruit and a small piece of roasted pork, as the snowy orders only carrots, and various greens. Agros orders a pint of ale and some ribs. The wench returns to the bar handing the order to the bar keep who turns over to the pig roasting over the fire pit. Darth turns his attention to the wench thanking the bartender for his story on the man in question.

Darth, ” Now what do we have here,” Darths eyes trail the wench’s body from head to toe. the wench is in her late teens with bright red hair and ruby lips, speaking softly into her ear she gives a giggle then points over to the table where Agros, Cecil and the girls sit. He places a gold coin into her cleavage and kisses her cheek before standing. He grabs his coffee and approaches the table.

Darth approaches and the girls bicker about how hungry they are, Argos sizes up this darth fellow who approaches their table just pulling up a chair he plops down next to them. Darth seems to be in is late twenties a tone yet single body holds a short sword some swift leather armor and a par of daggers, being easy on the eyes, the girls turn to him with slight awe blushing as he introduces himself.

Darth,” Greetings friends, I hear you have a quite the story to tell, as a traveling writer I’d love to hear it….By the way My name is Darth Gilder, may I perhaps inquire your names? It is only customary when meeting folks to introduce yourself.”

Before snowy and ash even have a chance to respond to the mans question ARgos chimes in,” Well I am Argos, these youngins here are Snowy, and Ash. This fine gentlemen here goes by cecil and which tale do you speak of?” Argos waits for a response as the two sisters grumble at each other a brief moment noticing one another is blushing and giggle at the other.

Cecil,” seems we are all here…..”

Snowy,” Huh?,no we arn’t has anyone seen grindle or chuck?”

Ash,” you know they are just sleeping off last nights stupor….idiots…”

DArth<” you know the tale of a mage who can turn armies to dust, great tale if you ask me worthy of being captured by writing you know. The bartender said this fellow here, Cecil was the one who did it? I would just love to know more.” Darth wonders if an item was used or some sort of spell book that might fetch a good sum to the right buyer. Or if the story was even true and not local rumors.

Cecil,” don’t really know how I do such things, just kind of developed along with me as I wondered the realm.”

Darth,” Interesting can you show me a demonstration?”

Argos,” the man is exhausted leave him be, its his first meal in days….”

Ash,”yeah besides he said he wouldn’t be able to do that again for quite some time…”

Snowy,”I’m bored, and hungry where is our food….”

Cecil,”Perhaps you would care to join us for dinner Darth, not sure what kind of stories do you like? I know several other good ones I assure you, Such as the living dungeon a bottomless prison.” Cecil attempts to change subjects off of himself as the time is not right to tell the others the truth.

Darth,” Those do seem like grand tales, but Seeing something first hand always makes for better writing.”

Argos,” I got a tale for ya an army that always returns slightly stronger than before, killing off the innocent and those few who stand and fight. The story of the fallen heros who die to protect others.”

Darth,” always a good tale, but over written, I am looking for more than that; a story that is one of a kind.”

Cecil,” well these fine folks are going to go out into the world to save it…no greater story than that. perhaps you should tag along with them you might find some useful material to write about, and you would experience it full tilt. ”

Snowy,” yay food” *snowy interrupts and the wench returns with the food orders and refills their cups. Winking at darth who returns his her wink with one of his own

A Story Into Time Chapter 5 The First To Fall. (Currently being rewritten.)

Hades stands strong with his crown of bones resting on his silver hair. A handsome spectacle indeed, using his beauty to ease the passing of those who are ill and those who have reached the elderly age. Though most see him as evil or cruel, truth be told he was a very kind God in charge of ending the pain of those who are suffering.

Around his neck hangs a key made of stone bone and blood. Forged in the darkness it was paired with a lock which was created before Hade’s time to lock up all of the failed creations of the Creator. They were the first Darklings consisting mainly of soul eaters and demons. The common folk considered this Gate a myth, a lore to tell children that if they were bad they would leave them before the Gate where they would be consumed by the evil within.

Hades looks down upon an old woman’s who small hut was in much need of repairs. He can’t help but remember last year when he had to help her husband find his way to the realm of peace and the afterlife. He walks into her hut and sits down on the old ladies bed. Who at first is startled and scared by his sudden arrival. Hades speaks in the most comforting tone,” Rose, relax I have come to help you…”Hades is wearing a black cloak and black leather armor complete with black leather gloves. He smiles gently and takes out a leather canteen pouring out a pain remedy into a horn.

Rose,”I…I remember you…you came to see my husband Bernard..then when you left I came in to find my sweetest love dead…”

Hades,”Yes I remember, he was in great pain and though his body may have stopped breathing he has never left you.” Hades to her side causing her head to turn and look as well. Hades’ reveals a specter of her husband who is lying next to her holding her in his arms.

Hades,”Rose, Sweet Rose, he has never left your side…He has been waiting and holding you every night..

Rose,”Bernard…you’re here?….I love you so much…”she takes the drink and takes a sip…as she does Hades removes the glove from his right hand revealing a hand of tendon and bones. As she drinks she finds herself feeling no pain and quickly becoming tired.

Rose drops the horn and is fast asleep. Hades gently takes his finger and brushes the hair out of her eyes. And as soon as he does her soul rises up out of her body becoming a specter…she sees Bernard and they kiss. Once they kiss a white light engulfs them and in a flash they are gone.

Hades stands and removes himself from the humble home. Once outside he sees an adjacent figure with shiny blond hair in golden armor. The man is holding a lance with a spear of beauty, grace, and devastating elegance. The spear itself is finely detailed with words of the ancients. His golden armor is covered in the same markers. Confused by this man Hades chooses to walk away as no mortal can see him unless he wishes.

“Figures…God showing your back to someone isn’t a wise move.” The Golden Stranger says with a cool and cocky tone.

Hades stops dead in his tracks, now knowing this figure can see him which means this stranger is no ordinary mortal. Hades turns and looks at the figure yet again. The man stands about 50 yards away, with golden hair and eyes he leers back at Hades.

Hades speaks words of wonder,”I see you know what I am…but forgive my ignorance as I know not who you are or why you stand armed. ”

Figure with cold words,” I am the dream of every mortal…I am Gilgamesh, here to fulfill the wish of mortals everywhere, do you know what that is? It’s very basic concept. Freedom….Freedom from the Gods.”

Hades can’t help laugh,” Oh is that so golden child. Have you any concept of how absurd the words you speak are. The Gods are above the whelms or day dreams of mortals” Hades says smugly. His hand still exposed as he walks towards Gilgamesh. Still chuckling over this preposterous notion of dispatching Gods.

Gilgamesh grins,” Your plague on this world is over. I shall see to it every temple crumbles all scripture is destroyed. No one well remember what Gods are, I shall start with you.”

Hades shakes his head,” you really are reckless. Gods will never be silenced.” Hades now facing the man who lowers his spear down to his side. Hades reaches out and touches Gilgamesh’s face causing it to turn black for a second and Gilgamesh’s veins to pop out of his skin and turn a dark green sickly color. Though Gilgamesh’s smile never fades. Hades looks at him confused, as the man has a soul strong enough to resist his powers. The man is alive but has no life to taken. Causing Hades to jump back and glare with confusion at what stood before him.

Gilgamesh,” my turn….” With a swift motion Gilgamesh shoves the spear vertical up through Hades stomach and out through his throat. Hades steps back and Gilgamesh leaves the spear in him.

Gilgamesh,” Reckless…” Gilgamesh spits before he tears out in and upwards motion splitting his rib cage and throat open open. Exposing his heart which Gilgamesh removes and pushes Hades backwards. As Hades falls he begins to to turn white, and by the time he would hit the ground he is nothing but ash. Gilgamesh watches the heart turn white and then he crumbles it shaking the dust from his hand.

The key that was wrapped around Hades’s neck falls onto the ground. Puzzled Gilgamesh picks it up wondering why it too did not turn to ash. Along with everything else the God was “wearing”. Picking it up he places it around his own neck as a souvenir of his victory. From out of the trees, a women barely clothed in armor with similar markings walks up behind Gilgamesh never making a sound she approaches from his rear.

Gilgamesh,”How long have you been there Diane?”

Puzzled by the fact he figured out she was approaching she responds playfully.” Not Long, not long at all…”

Gilgamesh shakes his head slightly, ” so the whole time then.”

Diane,” Yeah that would be accurate…So you killed one of those God creatures huh?”

Gilgamesh proudly responds,” yes and it was much easier than I could have hoped for.”

Diane is a very slender women with an angelic almost innocent face. Her blond hair hangs just above her shoulders. Her clothing leaves very little to the imagination, exposing teal skin with nearly faded battle scars. She has dull purple eyes and a very slight teal look to her skin in direct sunlight. Though this all changes as she steps in front of Gilgamesh, as her form turns to that of Hades, looking the same as Hades once did. She slides up to Gilgamesh wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek as she giggles. Gilgamesh isn’t impressed and pushes her off of him.

Diane who mimics Hades soothing deep voice,” Oh don’t be so up tight, Alexander is a big guy but I can make some room for you too sweetie” She blows Gilgamesh and kiss. ” Shall I go undercover, perhaps locate this city of the Gods the mortals all go on and on about….And I must say, they are very interesting yet extremely dull to listen too…”

Gilgamesh nods to her idea, as he tries to shake the image out of his head that she just placed there.” Yes go ahead, as recon of mortals seems to be boring you cause well…you are here….not doing what I had asked.”

Diane’s voice now mimics Gilgamesh’s vocals,” Diane go out into the world of the mortals and find out all you can about these Gods the mortals made us to defeat, we must know if they pose a threat to us or not.” Her voice returns to a copy of Hades,” And what better way than to walk into the den of lions unnoticed. Though, there is something I had over heard, which I think you should know about…These Gods are not the first, there were older ones, that one day just disappeared, and then there was a dark age before these new ones appeared. Its rumored that the old Gods are only sleeping or have abandoned this plane.”

Gilgamesh,”Interesting, gather what info you can about the city of these Gods and see what info you can uncover about the older gods…might prove useful if they were banished or destroyed, their might be a weapon or spell to drive these false gods away. If so report back to me immediately, so we can send out word to the others, and find it before some fools do…

Diane nods turning into a Falcon and taking flight. Gilgamesh slightly jealous of the flight aspect many of his brothers and sisters shared. Curious about the mortals he walked into the old hut where the women’s body lies still. A faint smile remains on her face which slightly surprised Gilgamesh. He begins to rummage around the worn hut. Finding a box under her bed which had a small lock on it. Grabbing the lock he pulls it off the chest breaking the latch. Opening it he finds a Diary, a few gold pieces a small dagger and a wedding band.

Gilgamesh looks a the gold coins in both confusion and awe as they symbols on it he doesn’t know. He looks at the ring trying to piece together why a mortal would lock such items up. What could be the use or value of these alien items. The dagger he picks it up, determining he was made of some sort of silver iron mixture. The weight was even and the blade balanced, he places it back into the box. He picks up the diary opening it where a drawing of a young women with a beautiful smile looks back at him. He flips the page and begins to read.

“Happy wedding day my Love, Fill these pages with memories and adventures our journey. One day when we are old and gray we can read the joys of our lives. Your betrothed Bernard. ”

Curious about this concept of love he flips to the next page. where the writing becomes far more feminine.

“Yesterday was the happiest of my life followed by the funnest. My darling pulled out all the stops and I can not believe what he has done. Today was our honeymoon, my prince charming brought me to an actual noble Ball where all the kings of man, dwarfs, Gnomes and Elves with their heirs arrived. It was held at the great hall of Loraine inside the human City of Honor. Never in my life have I seen so many colors, nobility and grace. Bernard’s brother worked as tailor for some nobles and managed to convince him to give me a dress that was made and rejected. The silver and tan coloring wasn’t as flattering as I hoped, and the frill around my neck was so scratchy but Bernard looked at me constantly throughout the night as he played his fiddle. I love him so much, he truly loves me and it showed so much last night. He slipped me in with the rest of the band where I had to change and sneak once I got into the room with the nobles. We could have been punished greatly for attending the luxuries of the blessed. Oh yes the feast….oh what a feast was set up during and after. I did not know much about the world. That night was full of magic I danced and ate my fill. Saw a fire elf and a water elf give each other curious glances…ha ha ha. King Luther of the plains drank so much wine he fell asleep on his throne. His children had to carry him off before the mid ball festivities. Dwarf leader Sheer introduced his youngest son Grendle, who had to be 6 or so, he was so adorable. A pudgy mini-dwarf I could barely contain my excitement. I watched him try to eat a turkey leg like his father and almost laughed out loud. Not because it was so funny but more because it was beyond precious. such a small face and hand holding up such a large piece of meat the boy could barely sink his teeth in, and would tear off too large to chew bites. Can not wait to have some kids of our own. His wit and my charm, the world will bend before for them, this I know to be true. It was truly a magical night that when my husband…I can’t believe I said it. Husband, was finished providing music we went to an after party below held by the servants. King Vladrea, who hosted the gathering made sure the servants had access to the leftovers and could hold their own party of sorts in the servants quarters. My husband and I danced for a few more hours and spend many hours with several interesting folks. Never in all my years have I ever been happier. First of the best days of my life. ”

Gilgamesh puzzled by many of the concepts portrayed by this personal text closes the book. He closes the box and places it back under the bed. He looks one last time at the women who lied still, seeing only vague resemblance to the women drawn on the first page. Strange he thought flipping through the pages of the book. He turned to leave with book still in hand. It could be of some use in learning about the world through a mortals eyes.

Messenger,” The immortals have not moved,
Seems Demons and orcs in the north have been removed.”
Zeus, “the mortals could hold back those odds?
Hera, “husband mortals are of no concern
We must focus, we must remain stern
Was this truly all up to the Gods.

Zeus, “quite, we are facing a new foe,
Managed to defeat each of us with a single blow
We need to gather all the information we can
Both on our enemy and what should we expect
Leave no valley unchecked
We need all we can obtain to form a successful plan

Zeus, “Everyone take on mortal form
Venture out into the swarm.
Return here in three days;
with all the info you find
Hopefully we will get out of this bind.”
Each then transform and departed in differ ways

Artemis takes the form of a sparrow
As Ares took the form of a pharaoh
Zeus took the form of a common man
Hera formed into a young pretty lady
Poseidon tales the form of a dwarf miner
As Athena thinks of something a bit refiner
Taking the form of a eleven woman

Artemis heads to the forest of ages
As the rest take paths to mortal stages
Zeus knows he must find an answer
Its only a matter of time before
The Immortals come to finish the score
And their tyranny spreads like cancer.

Gilgamesh,” That was a little too easy
Almost makes me feel queasy.
He has fully recovered from Zues attack
Diane, ” Shall we hunt them?”
Gilgamesh,” not yet lets see where their actions stem
Sooner or later they will try to come back.”

Ellen, “Waiting is boring
what is to keep us from snoring?”
Hellen’ ” Now Sister no need to be crude
I am sure we will get our chance
To do many things of substance.”
Ellen sighs and begins to brood.

Medea, “I think Cecil should be our next target.”
Gilgamesh, “Lets not do something we would regret,
Since he is not on either side lets not make the choice for him poor
Though he is the weakest of us all
He could give our plans a good stall.”
Medea, “He is stronger than you give him credit for!”

The immortals all laugh at Medea
She is now embarrassed by her idea.
Lucifer, ” might I suggest we take part in the war?
It would be at least mildly entertaining
How each of us take on each side pertaining.”

Alexander, “Fight each other again?
I accept that challenge my friend.”
Lucifer, “much more than that
Change the tides of the war till all the mortals are dead
Both sides lie on battlefields missing all of their heads.”

Diane, “It sounds like some careless fun
Though, will it hinder what must be done?”
Gilgamesh, ” Silence, Playing with lives on a grand scale
Though this could be fun it will expose us too soon.”
364,” why does it matter to death we are immune.
This being so, there is no reason we could fail.”

Gilgamesh,” FINE, go out and play
Do not let anyone get in your way
Should you run into Any of the Gods
Feel free to kill them at your leisure
Go out and and cease for sure
No need to hide behind this facade.”

With that the immortals headed out
To change the out come and throw things about
The Gods went in search of information
And The mortals found a powerful ally
The mortals now trek through a valley
As Cecil follows them to their destination

Chapter One: The Beginning

Chapter One: The Beginning

A man stands before a piece of glass
On the other side stands a lass
Her skin had changed to the color of grass

He grins at her body his eyes do peer
As she does her best not to sneer
They look at one another so clear

“Welcome to the world 364,”
He said with no life to his core
His voice made her sore

On the glass she placed her hand
He smiled viewing her brand
Though it faded as the glass turned to sand

His eyes filled with terror
When her finger turned into a parer
It was now he realized his error.

With a swift motion his blood did splatter
She began to consume his matter
When down the hall came rising chatter

She stood as blood ran down her chin
As her body she gave a spin
Turning she gave a grin…

As large man walked through the door
He saw the other on the floor
Little did he know this was the start of the war

With a swift move she removed his head
Exiting out to the hall where she left many dead
Wasn’t too long till the rest fled.

Making it to several other cells
She opened other monsters shells
As warnings rang indicated by bells

10 in all tore the building apart
This was only the start
As the future was theirs to chart.

We travel now a few years ahead
A man in a tavern covers his head
Under a white cloak he hides his dread

Chatter about the war is heard
Some saying it was all absurd
In speech very slurred

Demons, orcs, and trolls made their way
Across the mainland with a leader non could slay
They spoke of whether they should leave or stay

The man in white
Stands and speaks of whats right
That they should band together in the night

This causes uneasy waves throughout the setting
Keeping gambling men from betting
As the concept makes some pants ready for wetting

The man calms the storm of fear
With statements so sincere
But his view was clear

If no one stands to fight they already lost
And will be forced to pay the greatest cost
That will be worse than any early frost.

As the mood of the tavern changes
The men cheer in different ranges
As gold continues different exchanges

The man in white sits back down
Knowing in weeks he will be the only around
The rest here will scatter on the ground….

Hours pass and stars begin to fade.
The man stands in candles’ shade
Departing he feels a blade.

“Gilgamesh, what are you planning?”
Questions a voice so enchanting,
While his memories he is scanning.

“Medea,” Gilgamesh gives a smirk.
“Glad I could trouble you from your work
In the shadows we shall no longer lurk.

“Come with me, and we shall change it all
We were made for a purpose and its time to answer the call
Gather the others its time we halt our continued stall.”

Medea Grins, ” certainly, seems we well finally have some fun.”
The women turns her silver hair in a common bun.
Off to bid her masters wishes she did run.

She begins her quest by talking to Alexander
Who could be a fearsome commander
Though he lacked the candor.

Bored with winning every contest of strength
He easy to convince without much length
Though on her list he was the tenth

Next she came across Lucifer,
He was also easy from which to coffer
Always up to make someone suffer.

Wasn’t long after till she found Ellen
Who was with her lovely sister Helen
Whom was anything but a felon

Helen was created with the power to allure
Though Ellen was about to command power impure
Causing great pain she did endure

Unexpectedly she ran into Lancer
The others referred to him as cancer,
Though he gave her the right answer…

With some trouble she found Diane
Her head resting on her pet lion
Who went without Meade tryin’

Three six four was next on the list
Though Medea suffered a broken wrist
364 could only smile, as Medea did insist

The last took the longest to find
Causing Madea to almost lose her mind
Though her quest would be over when he signed

Cecil, “Gathered the others already have you?”
Then what is it that you want me to do?
Ah yes, don’t speak, I do not need your clue”

Medea stands in front of a man in a sandy cloak
With anger on her face as her voice gives a choke
“If you wont come willingly then I will force you,” she does provoke

Cecil, “Threatening a fellow immortal?”
He asks following it with a small chortle.
” Last chance,” She says opening a portal.

Cecil, “Medea, you have never seen my power,
Do not assume I have a will that would cower,
For to do that would insure that it will easily tower”

Medea sneers, “You were always a coward
Soon your free will well be devoured
And you will see that I am empowered…”

Medea raises her arm to reveal a wand
She points it at him to make him her pawn
He vanishes before her spell can bond

He reappears inches from her face,
Causing her back away to regain pace,
As she looks around and several now fill the space

Her eyes open wide as now 100 stand
Armored with war hammer in hand
Shaking her head trying to understand

Cecils, “Please continue we dare.”
Cecil from before holds her stare
As her wand is now in his hand, and hers is bare.

In the portal he tosses her toy,
Cecil, “Tell Gilgamesh I will not take part in his ploy”
Run along now before I decide to destroy.”

Cecil brings his hammer into her chest
Easily flatten her so called breasts
Forcing her into the portal, and it ingests.
