Count Down

Count Down

Years turn to months

The count down has begun
A short reprieve
From all the things I’ve done
And have yet to receive

Months turn to weeks

A tingle goes up my spine
Doubt infecting my mind
As I tell myself all is fine
Fearing what you will find

Weeks turn to days

I become increasingly nervous
As doubt gives way to hope
I fight becoming anxious
Creating back up plans to cope

Days turn to hours

Our reunion is near
I struggle to keep my cool
Forgetting reasons to fear
Hoping I am no longer a fool

Hours turn to minutes

I sit and wait by the door
Waiting to hear you press the bell
Feeling love again in my core
With the thought of all is well

Minutes to seconds

I can hear you climbing out of the car
Keys jingle freely in the air
Now its no longer so far
Soon I’ll be within your stare

Seconds turn to moments

Moments that will last a life time
Now that your in my arms again
I can forgive myself for my crime
For us this is not the end
