Flush

Flush,

Around the card table
The players sit
Masked by hats and glasses
Hidding their inner fit

Each has two cards
They take a peek
Some fold
Turning red in the cheek

Others remain in
Keeping their cool
Knowing they had something
Not wanting to be a fool

I fold and watch for the flop
Wondering what the players hold
One runs his mouth
As the others remain cold

The flop comes with an Ace and king of hearts
And a spadded three
Bets fly around the table
Those remaining raise the fee

I look on in awe at the turn
The three of diamonds
I catch a silent grin
That vanished within seconds

Around the table the betting went
As only two now remain
The rest finally folded
And I shall soon complain

As a 4 of hearts does appear
The basterd called the river
Changing winning hands to nothing
Causing my soul to shiver

For if I had played my hand
My 3 and 8 of hearts would win
I could have beaten the pocket aces
And the full house of three and king
