The Gamble

The Gamble

Hey why not gamble
It is your life
You only live once
So it is time to choose a wife

The choice is yours
Pick the girl who loves you
Or the one that makes you happy
Knowing she wont ever be true

Come on now
Your life is wasting away
Wait to long risk losing them both
Which one do you convince to stay

Go for the gamble
Or the sure thing
Possibly end up alone
Or be the bitter king

Exactly my thoughts!! If you have never gambled, you will never know if you are lucky, unlucky, good at gambling or just completely suck at it! Love being the biggest gamble of all, you will never know or discover it unless you are willing to risk your heart. Its a very high price but its well worth it if you do succeed in finding it one of these days ๐Ÿ™‚

Loved the lightness of the poem and how you have made it so matter of fact even though you are discussing something so very heavy as this. Love the word flow too, it suits the overall mood of the poem REALLY well. Two thumbs and two big toes up! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the comments glad you found clarity in my work. Yes I find a lighter approach to a serious situation makes for easier acceptance to those who have hidden away a feeling they wish not to feel.

Ah, my shoeless friend, if you know the girl you “love” won’t be true, then it’s not love, it’s infatuation. If you don’t love the other girl back, then you’ll never be happy settling. Thus, it is NOT time to choose a wife. It is time to wait until you find someone you love who loves you back. Love is always a gamble, but you want decent odds, at least.

Is there such a thing as decent in odds in life? I think not, not matter the outcome of any sitituation there is always room for error. For no matter how well you know a person or a person knows you there is still something hidden. Something you wouldn’t expect. Sometimes its a good thing but more likly its foul. thanks for your comment though and for your advice.

Never want to end up bitter…rather go for it, go for life! Great message in this poem!

Marriage is overrated. There’s no need to be another victim of society. Unless you meet the right person, it will only be a mistake. Hence the divorce rated these days. But then, I don’t fear being alone like mom did.
