Death

Death

Death’s deadly hands touch more than we know
Though it is necessary for us to grow
Cutting us deeper then we ever let on
As we try to fight being withdrawn

Its role is vital for our next step
Letting go of the tears we have wept
The pain only lessons in time
But wounds remain from its crime

The thoughts of how can go on with out you
Are replaced by memories of the past in review
The smiles, praise, words of choice
The fleeting sound of their voice

The pictures we hold on to
Are our most vivid clue
To who death has taken from
And how far we have come

It isn’t fair that we were not warned
But even if we were would we be less scorned
No, Death is never an easy thing to bare
Especially when it happens to those we care

Death can bring us closer to the ones that matter
Or cause family ties to finally scatter
Byron, the best thing you can do for you
Is take care of yourself as he would want you to.

Written for a friends loss as of recent…
