The Man Without a Voice

The Man Without a Voice

I had a friend once long ago
Who had a very small ego
Quite reserved, and smart
Fights, he never would start
He always sat in the back
Without a defense or attack
Just living, always did listen
With moments that always did glisten
Never really trying to change minds
A mind surviving off of random finds
Finally comes across something he can concur
Though actions speak louder than words for sure
Dropping out of college and falling victim to drinking
His mind, soul, and heart are steadily shrinking
Pushing his true friends, to the end of there mends
Watching him destroy himself after something he doesn’t comprehend
Never listening anymore to words that are of a different decor
Sinking in the booze, drowning far from the shore
Falling into ignorance, from his tragic trance
Never faltering from his moronic stance
Attempting to force his ideas on everyone
To be the one in the end that has won
Throwing his life away for something crude
Because is not being constructive just rude
Killing his own dreams with lazy act
As lonely depression begins to stack
Eating him, consuming him, lying to him
Soon to be even forgotten by his brother Tim
Acting out harshly to all that try to help
Feeling his words are never going to be felt
Becoming stubborn selfish and stupid
Never to be struck by cupid
Not that this is one of his desire
In fact it could be far from what he does admire
His soul becomes bitter as he disappears
Into a pipe, bottle, couch, video game
Soon no one will remember his name
He lost everything, trying to rebel for something
Soon he will be, have, and say nothing.

Written for a falling friend who is losing himself, his future, any comprehension of the real world, and soon lots of his friends….sad tale.
