Recession

Recession

Adjusting to a new experience
Living a different existence
Forming a stronger resistance
Taking now our final stance
The weight of the world appears
Believing in children’s tears
As the smoke finally clears
We realize our lasting fears
We caused all our own drama to manifest
As we tried to understand this hardened test
Social classes fall just like the rest
For no one can ever remain at their best
Scrambling to hold life together
Change ourselves for the better
Tugging our shrinking tether
Turning our skin into leather
Fighting back the urge to die
Giving new things a real try
Letting go of the past with a sigh
Now we’re moving past our former lie
