Aftermath
The damage is done
But the wounds still bleed
Making a mess of my life
A longing of undying need
You walked away, so don’t come back
I can’t even be mad
I loved you so
You’re still what makes me glad
If their is still care for me
Never let me know
For I’ll never let go
So don’t let a tear show
Your absence made me fall
It’s up to me to walk again
Till I do, I shall crawl
As I try to forget my heart’s friend

Sigh. Such an emotional write.
Sad, but all too familiar. My offering this week deals with the loss of love, too. Nice write!

Sad, and something I think we can all relate to at times. I love the simplicity; you don’t pad out your writing with useless words.

Aftermath is always hard. One way to look at it, the worst is over, a new start, new beginning with new hope. We learn something new about yourselves and we will know better what we want the next time round
Best line:
“As I forget my heart’s friend,” a very moving piece. Thank you for sharing!

Something kewl shone through the dark…enjoyed
I’ve felt this after every break up. Like losing my heart and never receiving it back. This is heart wrenching.
nice capture of your emotion into words. But, like Pop use to say “snap out of it!”
…just being silly.
Excellent poem
Must be in the air today…lots of folks writing melancholy poems (me too.) Thanks for the emotional write.
It’s never easy to forget…when that person has already become part of your life.
love is always an emotional subject
A glimmer of hope expressed…even when the heart knows that it is over. Good read.
