The Raven

In the world of blood shed
Only one lives far from dread
A cackling raven who’s already dead

A jester, a spook
A flying kook
With the world as a nook

He would sore across the sky
Looking for things to go awry
If things went fine he did decry

Soon he would deface those on cue
With something simple like a mirage or two
Making sure disaster would befall the crew

One day he saw Hanzel at play
Eating finger soup on his way
The Raven thought ooo new prey

With a swoop and a holler he did land
And with his crackle he began
To sound like Gretel, causing Hanzel to stand

Whats this Hanzel did ponder
His sister still lives he did wonder
Taking off he left his former plunder

“Sister, Sister, I’m sorry so?”
Walking up to the raven, disappointment did show
“Sister, Sister, Where Did you Go?”

The raven did cackle and chuckle so deep
As Hanzel sat down and began to weep
The raven turns his attention to a flock of sheep

Seeing the wolf in sheep’s clothing
The raven gave the wolf a reason for loathing
Telling all the sheep where then could find the wolf poaching

What a good show the raven did shriek
Has he flew up to the mountains peek
Only to find another one with a beak

Father Vulture looked down on the raven
Wondering if he was a soul worth “saven”
Thinking of what to do with this silly raven

Not good, not bad, just out to destroy plans
Something the vulture thinks he could be a pawn
To make sure the wolf well one day be fawn

The raven speaks of little boy blue
And what the wolf plans to do
Saying to “Make sure and delay him a day or two”

The Raven with a nodd thinking its fun
Heads out to make sure its done
Not knowing the end of the wolf, by his action has begun.
